Project 2: More Sketching and First Final Layout
Moving on from the previous blog of initial sketching and gathering ideas from all areas of the inspirations, I created 20 more sketches to showcase more categorize ideas. To gain more silhouette inspiration, I drew from classic American sportwear designers that truly influenced how America has evolved into its ready-to-wear looks today. Some collections I drew from were 94's and 99's Calvin Klein minimalistic, yet more draped looks. As for pattern play ideas, I looked into the reccomended Gary Graham throughout his entire career and drew from both newer and older collections.
From these targeted looks, I began to work in categories of my favorite elements and samples I had so far. I worked on creating looks for the curved sample and drapes I made, the gathered fabric with fraying idea gathered from The Maiden Tower, the Flame Tower's shapes, and the outlines from Zaha Hadid's museum. After the sketching was completed, I went through all my looks to find the pieces that encompass the essence of the source material, and so far, here is the final rendered line up:
